1. What is the minimum and maximum resolution that PC2HDTV can support?

Ans.    The minimum resolution is 640x480 and the maximum resolution is 1920x1080.

 2. What is the max required network bandwidth for HD transmission?

Ans.    The bandwidth depends on the video resolution and picture complexities.  The maximum bandwidth for 1080p, 1920x1080, video is 50Mbps.

3. What compression technique is used and what are the advantages?

Ans.    The PC2TV is used MJPEG technology.  The advantage is low latency. Let’s use a simple calculation to explain the latency.  For 30fps video, the latency of frame by frame is 33ms.  A MPEG encoder does not encode frame by frame.  It saves many frames in buffer and start encode I frame and than P frames or B frames.  The same as MPEG decoder, it saves a lot of frames and starts decoding from I frame.  For instance, MPEG saves 5 frames and then encodes or decodes, the latency is 33ms x 10 (5 for encoder and 5 for decoder) = 330ms.  For MJPEG, the encoder and the decoder need not to save extra frames because they encode or decode picture frame by frame so the latency is very small.

4. Can I adjust the compression rate of the video?

Ans.    We do not allow user to change video compression rate.  The video compression rate can vary according to your product and usage.

 5. Can I use WLAN 802.11 to transmit the video?

Ans.    It depends on video resolution and wireless status.  Generally speaking, SD quality video can be transmitted via 802.11a/g but HD quality video cannot.  So we suggest using 802.11n to connect the PC2HDTV directly.

6. Which protocols are you used to transmit audio and video?

Ans.    The PC2TV uses UDP or MAC layer protocol to transmit audio and video.  The advantage of MAC layer is that the overhead is small.  We suggest using MAC layer when you use PowerLine (PLC).  For wireless (802.11n), MAC layer packets are not allowed, so you must use UDP protocol.

7.  I use DVI cable to connect my PC to the PCA, but DVI to VGA cable to connect the TVA to my TV.  Is that possible?

Ans.    Yes, it is. The PC2HDTV does not limit the input and output cables/interfaces must be the same type so you can connect as you wish.

8. I am using VGA to DVI cable to connect my PC to the PCA.  There is no audio.  How should I do?

Ans.  1. Use a speaker or ear phone to make sure the PC has audio out.

2. Turn off the PCA and than turn it on.

9. When I change the PC resolution, the TV shows “Invalid Mode” or does not show anything.  What should I do?

Ans.    It means that your TV cannot display the resolution you setup. Reduce the PC resolution.  Most TV supports 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1360x768 and 1920x1080.  Use these resolutions first and then try to change the resolution.

10.What’s the min and max audio compression rate?  Can we adjust the quality of the audio?

Ans.:   The audio compression rate is bound by AC97 codec in the product. It supports 48k, 44k, 22k, 11k or 8k sampling rate at 16 bits. The PC2HDTV product only supports 48k sampling rate at 16-bit stereo.

11. Can PC2HDTV go through power line?

Ans.    Yes, it can go through power line but power line is not an isolated media i.e., it cannot guarantee bandwidth. We suggest using 200Mbps PowerLine (PLC) adaptors.  The bandwidth varies dependent on your environment so you should test it from low resolution.

12. The video does not fix in my TV.  What should I do?

Ans.    It is caused by VGA sync.  Push the reset button at the rear panel of the PCA to REFRESH and than use your TV remote controller to auto adjust the video.

13. I use DVI cable to connect my PC to the PCA but DVI to VGA cable to connect the TVA to my TV.  Is that possible?

Ans.    Yes, it is.   The PC2HDTV does not limit the input and output cables/interfaces must be the same type so you can connect as you wish.

14. I use DVI cable to connect my PC to the PCA but DVI to VGA cable to connect the TVA to my TV.  The TV shows white screen.

Ans.    There is a slide-switch at the rear panel of the PCA.  Switch the slide-switch to DVI and reboot the PCA.

15. Can I use PC to view the video?

Ans.    Technically yes, you can use PC to view the video.  You need a software viewer but we do not support the software.

 top

16. Can I use PC to send video and TVA playback the video on TV?

Ans.    Technically yes, you can use a PC to send video.  Application software running on PC is necessary to send the video.  We do not support it.

17. What kind of keyboard and mouse can be used?  May I use USB keyboard and mouse?

Ans.    The TVA has two PS2 connectors for keyboard and mouse each.  You can use any keyboard and mouse which support PS2 connector.  Some of the keyboards and mice are used USB but there is converter included in the packing.  Please watch the gift box or manual of keyboard or mouse.  If there is PS2 mark you can use this keyboard and mouse.

18. The power red light is blinking and the TVA shows “PCA not found”.  What does it mean?

Ans.    It means that PCA can not boot up normally. You should turn off the PCA and unplug the VGA/DVI and USB cable and turn on the PCA than plug in the VGA/DVI and USB cable.  If the power red light is still blinking, please contact to our sales representative or technical support people.
